If you’ve Googled “what should I put on my resume,” you’re not alone. The truth is, what you leave off can be just as important as what you include. A strong resume is all about relevance and clarity — not cramming everything you’ve ever done onto a page.

  • What to Include:

    • A tailored professional summary

    • Key skills (aligned to the job ad or position specs)

    • Recent and relevant experience (chronilogically)

    • Education and qualifications

    • Certifications, licences, clearances

  • What to Leave Out:

    • Irrelevant jobs from 20 years ago

    • Your full home address (city/state is enough)

    • No more than 3 referees max - and in some cases you can simply list 'Referee's provided on request'

    • Long-winded paragraphs

    • Personal info (DOB, marital status, etc.)

Conclusion

Less is more. Focus on making your resume clear, concise, and job-focused — and if you’re stuck, that’s exactly what I’m here for. Stay tuned for more resume writing advice from The Adelaide Resume Writer.
